A very ill man turned to his doctor as he was preparing to leave the examination room and said, “Doctor, I am afraid to die. Tell me what lies on the other side.”
Very quietly, the doctor replied, “I don’t know.”
“You don’t know? You’re, a Christian man, and you don’t know what’s on the other side?”
The doctor was holding the handle of the door. On the other side came a sound of scratching and whining.
As the doctor opened the door, a dog sprang into the room and eagerly leaped upon the doctor with a show of eager joy and affection.
Turning to the patient, the doctor said, “Did you notice my dog? He’s never been in this room before. He didn’t know what was inside. He knew nothing except that his master was here. And when the door opened, he sprang in without fear.”
“I cannot imagine all of the wonder in heaven that awaits me after death—on the other side. But, I do know one thing…I know my Master is there, and that is enough for me.”

Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in Me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth, will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.
