Bob Christopher is my good friend from church. He offered to share this story. It is a testimony of how God supernaturally intervened to protect his daughter, Karen, and her family from instant disaster. Following is her email account of the incident.
"We were leaving the Georgia Dome in Atlanta traveling north in the fast lane [left lane] of Georgia State Highway 400 at about 70 miles per hour in heavy traffic. My husband Larry started coughing and asked me to take the wheel, because he was getting dizzy. We started to move to the right, so I thought he was pulling over. Then I looked over at him and realized that he had passed out.
“Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely. “ 1 Corinthians 13:12 NLT
"When I looked back to the right, we were on one of the long straight exits off of Highway 400. I only had to straighten the wheel slightly to keep us on the road while I attempted to wake up my husband, Larry.
“I have no idea how we got from the far left lane into the exit far right lane without hitting any of the cars that were surrounding us, other than through divine intervention. No one even honked at us, and no tires squealed. If we had veered right one hundred feet sooner [at 70 mph that’s only a split second], we would have hit the supports for the overpass; one hundred feet after that the exit was circular, and I couldn't have negotiated the turn.
“I told my dad [Bob] that the only logical explanation was that God had supernaturally transported us from the left lane of traffic and placed us on the exit lane with a quarter mile straight lane. This allowed me time to wake up my husband, and he was able to put on the brake just as we approached the intersection.”
“Our God moves in a mysterious way His wonders to perform” are the first two lines of a hymn written by William Cowper (1731-1800). Many events that happen in people’s lives are not explainable in human terms. Our Lord is the designer and creator of everything and is in control of all that happens. He is all-knowing and all-powerful. We may not be able to understand the how or why of events now, but someday we may. We just need to believe and trust in Him and know that He has a plan for each of us and for the world.
