When it comes to studying the Bible, sometimes it can be hard to know where to begin. Below are some powerful scriptures that you can turn to when you don’t know where to start! Take these encouraging promises from God’s Word and write them in a card to a friend, pray them daily, share them with others, and hide them in your heart.

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong. (2 Corinthians 12:9-10 ESV)

For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.  Philippians 4:13 NLT

Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.  Deuteronomy 31:6 ESV

But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31 NLT

No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13 NASB

The Lord is my strength and my song, and He has become my salvation; this is my God, and I will praise Him, my father’s God, and I will exalt Him. Exodus 15:2 ESV

Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous hand.  Isaiah 41:10 NASB

Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Ephesians 6:10 NLT

For the Lord your God is going with you! He will fight for you against your enemies, and He will give you victory!   Deuteronomy 20:4 NLT

Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.  Joshua 1:9 NASB

For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.   2 Timothy 1:7 ESV

Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28 NASB

See, God has come to save me. I will trust in Him and not be afraid. The Lord God is my strength and my song; He has given me victory. Isaiah 12:2 NLT

He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might He increases strength. Isaiah 40:29 ESV

The Lord is my light and my salvation – so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?  Psalm 27:1 NLT
