ANGELS GUARD MISSIONARY IN THE MIDDLE EAST
This story was told to my fellowship class at my church by a missionary our class helps to support. He is truly committed to his mission of spreading God’s word to non-believers. The area he travels to is so dangerous, that his real name cannot be given in order to protect his identity.
Once when he was flying over the Middle East going to his assignment, his flight entered airspace that covered several countries, including his destination. He describes the feeling he had as he entered that air space as “though he was entering a bubble of darkness”. Fear gripped him and remained with him for the next several hours.
After his plane landed, he went to a friend’s house. The fear continued! Later as he left the friend that evening, he walked down an alley. He thought someone might be following him, so he looked over his shoulder. Behind him he could see several tall guards. He believes these may have been angels sent to protect him.
He was no longer afraid!
Just like Elisha’s servant, he was allowed to see God’s protection for him. "Then Elisha prayed and said, 'O Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.' And the Lord opened the servant's eyes and he saw; and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha". (2 Kings 6:17)
